2012 Predictions and Prophecies - A Critical Look at Mayan Predictions and 2012 Skeptics

A gentleman in my online community emailed me, asking for my comments on a skeptic's view of some 2012 predictions and prophecies. Sometimes I agree with the skeptics, other times I don't; it all depends on the details of the claims being made. For example, if someone predicted that a comet was going to strike this planet on December 21, 2012 (or, for that matter, anytime in the foreseeable future), I'd be a skeptic, too.

I find that both proponents and skeptics of the idea that something important and unique will happen around December 21, 2012 are guilty of careless claims and logic as well as inadequate research.

For example, the author of the online article on Mayan predictions at The Skeptic's Dictionary (skepdic.com/maya) that I was asked to comment on stated that the Mayan calendar is not predictive, and I agree with him. But that's not what's interesting or important about the Mayan calendar anyway.

It's important to realize that when a prediction about something is made, most people just sit on their behinds waiting for that something to happen. Or else they may use that knowledge to try to get an edge on the stock market or some other such thing--which is not what 2012 is about!

What it is about is personal growth and spiritual evolution, and we all know that doesn't come so easy. So the fact that nobody knows exactly what will happen in 2012 is brilliant (not even the Mayan elders know)--because not knowing actually serves a useful (and divine) purpose. (So... please read all 2012 predictions and prophecies with inner discernment, the discernment of your higher self.)

However, by delving into the details of the exact nature of the 2012 alignment (that will occur between the Milky Way's equatorial axis and a particular axis of the Earth), I discovered some valuable guiding information that promises a positive outcome for humanity--backed by solid science conducted at astronomical institutes, no less. Furthermore, this complicated astronomy can be simplified and pictures can be drawn so even those who flunked high school science can understand that there will be a "cross" in the heavens on December 21, 2012 and that this cross represents a "crossroads" in our spiritual direction and evolution. This cross in the sky (where the Earth points towards galactic light) happens once every roughly 26,000 years.

The details of this alignment (and its implications) cannot be adequately expressed in a short article, that's why I wrote a couple chapters in an e-book on this topic. It's important to examine the details, not ignore or gloss over them. I suppose that just like the rest of us 2012 skeptics lead busy lives and can't be bothered to do their due research. I also suspect their minds are way too set to discover anything new of any significance.

The other idea this skeptic tries to disprove is Guatemalan anthropologist Carlos Barrios's claim that the Mayans were prophets who used their calendar to predict the coming of Cortez's ships in 1519. According to Barrios, writes the skeptic, Easter Sunday, April 21, 1519 was a day that marked a return of the Mayan's ancestors, "coming like butterflies" on the sea, and the natives were "waiting and watching to see how it would go." (The skeptic makes fun of Barrios's reference to butterflies.)

But I doubt it was the butterfly effect of Cortez's ships that mesmerized the natives; rather, it was the crosses on their ships.

That's because the Mayans were already familiar with the symbol of the cross (sometimes called the "solar cross"). The cross in the heavens is what their long count calendar was based on. (Remember that the Mayans were obsessed with their calendars.) The cross symbolized a particular alignment of our earth and solar system with respect to the Milky Way galaxy.

On yet another level, the cross symbolized a new phase in their future. The Mayans must have been aware that they were going into a new phase of their development and evolution (a "crossroad") that they had all agreed to on the inner, subconscious level (and the ancestors they were awaiting were those back from the days of Atlantis). So of course they'd be curious about what that future would bring. That's why they almost just submitted themselves to the inevitable.

And now the alignment that happens in 2012 has a unique meaning for the future of the people on this planet.

So, please read about 2012 predictions and prophecies with inner discernment, remember that the details are critical, and strive to strengthen your own inner discernment by reconnecting and integrating with your higher self. Mayan Prophecy of Doom 2012 - Will December 12th, 2012 Be Doomsday?

Will the world really end in December 2012 as the Mayan Prophecy of Doom 2012 predicts.

A number of celestial happenings and prophet predicts seem to converge to add weight to the claims for the Mayan Prophecy of Doom 2012.

So the speculation has only just began The Mayan Prophecy of Doom 2012 will be a larger talking point than the turn of the millennium, or whether the world would survive the computer change for the end of 1999.

The Mayan Prophecy of doom 2012 is part of the overall Mayan Prophecies. This prophecy in particular seems to suggest on or around December 2012 the world will end, or at least a major shift in the well being of the world will be experienced.

A number of prophecies seem to imply that some form of doomsday will happen in the 21st century,

Several; ancient profits predict the end of the world in 2012. The end of the world is predicted in the bible and the temples of ancient Rome, and the pyramids of the Mayans.

The Mayan calendar is so accurate that it has been able to predict lunar eclipses literal thousands of years in the future, but the Mayan calendar mysteriously ends on December 12 2012.

A web bot project designed to predict, stock futures that already successfully predicted the earth quakes in August 2004 the prediction was for 300,000 dead and in December 2004 the tsunami occurred, the bot also predicted anthrax attacks in Washington DC in 2001, the destruction of hurricane Katarina in 2005.

If this project is correct it predicts escalations leading to something like limited nuclear war in 2012, but this is based on scans of the internet, so can it be relied on, despite it's past accuracies

Oracles of the ancient world, such as The Sibyl of ancient Rome 6th century BC, predicts a distant apocalypse, stating the world would last for, 9 periods of 800 years each the e 10th generation would begin in approximately 2000AD and be the last. Her greatest prophecy written in around 20BC was of a new golden age and a child being born, Christians took this as the prophecy of the coming of Christ.

Nostradamus and the lost book also seems to predict a trial by fire for the world and a final war of ultimate destruction brought on by an anti-Christ, suggesting the conflict between Muslims and Christians might be at it centre.

So it is not just the Mayans that are predicting some form of major distribution in civilisation around the year 2012 a number of ancients and threads come together to support this theory.

Will the end of the Mayan Calendar see some form of fulfillment of Mayan Prophecy of Doom 2012 and if so what will be the impact on you and man kind as a whole.

The prophecies suggest in 2012, Our Planet Will Become A WAR ZONE Will You Survive, Or Are You And Your Family Already Doomed

Mayan Astronomy and What it Says About 2012

The Long Count calendar of the ancient Mayans ends on the Winter Solstice of the year 2012. Many scientists and astrologists have been looking at Mayan astronomy for years now and are considering if the end of the world as we know it is at hand.

The Long Count calendar began mapping out the heavens on the day that this current age of Earth began over 5100 years ago. All of the scientific evidence points to the Mayan astronomy predictions to be accurate.
There is a huge significance in the year 2012 in that lunar-solar records, cosmic events and ancient knowledge all point to a Galactic alignment at the end of the year 2012. The Mayan astronomy accurately predicts this galactic alignment. All of the most up to date astronomical software shows that the galactic alignment is set to happen on December 21, 2012.

The center of our galaxy, the Milky Way, will align with the ellipses of our solar system in conjunction with an eclipse and a very irregular planetary crossing. The last time that this planetary alignment occurred was 26,000 years ago.

Even before any modern technical advances in astronomy, it was a known fact that there were other planets in our solar system. That evidence comes from ancient records. In 2008, an impression of a planet was found behind Pluto, and is thought to be the 10th planet in our solar system. Just how close it will come to Earth in 2012 is not yet known, but the ancient Mayans knew that it was there and are expecting its return in the year 2012.
